College costs are too expensive to make arbitrary decisions about which colleges to attend. Finding the right college is a process that takes effective planning and organization. This process can be most effective when a student defines the criteria for selecting a college rather than judging it by its looks or wanting to be with their friends. My job is to help students to research selection criteria, financial aid awards and overall costs and benefits of each college to consider. This process also includes spreadsheet preparation, scholarship searches and exploring alternatives such as community colleges,
the military, gap year programs and trade schools for those not ready for a four-year program. I also teach parents how to consolidate and control this information from applications to admissions.
